Open Letter to Nepal With amazement, frustration and sadness have I been reading the articles and letters about the so called facebook and twiterati movement of the Nepali youth.Years and years have passed without any progress to become the stable, peaceful and well devolved country that Nepal in potential is. Many times I read in the newspapers that the youth is our future. That the youth is Nepal’s (only) hope. And now finally there is a substantial group of youth that independently from political parties is raising their voices for change and apparently some people don’t like it. C.K. Lal an important political annalist humiliated the youth in the national daily the Republica, which I hoped was a very smart strategic move to make the youth more furious and determent for real change. Though in the days after more people seemed to agree with C.K. Lal’s opinion. What is wrong with this new youth movement? Who cares what kind of shoes somebody wears as the only thing they want and I quote a comment in the same republica newspaper is “Transparency and Responsibility from our leaders”. Ain’t that what we all want ? I think just like the friends and supporters of facebook pages like www.facebook.com/NepalUnites that our leaders failed and misused our trust. We voted to give our leaders a temporary mandate to serve and write a constitution for Nepal in our name. In a democracy the limited period of time the members of parliament are voted for makes sure that they do what they supposed to do. That is why the constitution writing can’t be just extended with another year. The CA failed and new elections have to be held. Wikipedia says: “If there is no political legitimacy governments will collapse, unless there is a small influential elité.” Since we can’t blame the king anymore I wonder who the small group of élites are that hijack the hopes of so many Nepali citizens ? The 13th hotshots from the main political parties or are there other forces on the background ? Please don’t answer this question with India or other foreign powers that try to ruin Nepal. Stop creating hoaxes or phoney stories to create excuses why CA members couldn’t deliver. The truth is that Nepal is corrupt to the bone. Singha Durbar became a mafia like environment where the party Don’s quarrel with each other about how to rule their country. While ordinary people are deprived from basic everyday needs like, electricity, water and fuel. Stop Now Please, No Excuses Anymore, Start Delivering !. I’m a dutch citizen, with a Nepali wife, who joined her to the polling booths, and shared hers as well as many other Nepalis hopes and dreams for change for so many years. For us, our children and the rest of Nepal we want change.
